Carter on Fire, 5-for-8 Against Toronto
Sunday, July 7th , 1963
It was a high-five day for Ernie Carter, at least for a while.

The San Francisco third baseman got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the Toronto Wolves, but they were in short supply at the end, as Toronto won the game, 13-10. Carter finished with an impressive 5-for-8 line, but the Sailors couldn't hold off the Wolves.

"Ernie was hitting everything," said Sailors manager Chris Beck. "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion."

Ernie Carter singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, grounded out in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th and doubled in the 13th.

So far this year in 81 games, Carter is hitting .286 with 3 home runs, 51 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
