| Cannons Fall Short, 8-7, at Cleveland | The Cleveland Foresters defeated the Cincinnati Cannons, 8-7, in part because of second baseman Gus Randall. Randall was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Foresters. Roy Rice earned the win for Cleveland. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 10-5. Bob V James nailed down his 16th save.
Randall contributed in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Cleveland get the win.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Randall.
The loss makes Cincinnati 31-42. | |
