Win Goes to Chiefs in Tight Contest
The Minneapolis Millers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Hub Huffman into a win. Instead, the Chicago Chiefs prevailed, 5-3. Huffman threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The 5th-place Chiefs go to 27-47.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Babe Thornton to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Helping the team win is what it's all about," said Thornton.
