 | Big Day for Maxwell: Swats 5 Hits Friday, July 11th , 1913 Sherry Maxwell had an answer for everything the Boston Beacons threw at him at Beacon Park. The Cleveland first baseman went 5-for-6 in the game to put his name in the record book and give the Grays a win, 16-6. Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Maxwell said, "I just see the ball and I hit it." Sherry Maxwell singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Joe Connors in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a three-run double in the 8th.
