| Lancers Score Late to Beat Grays, 2-1 | The Detroit Lancers picked up a win at Thompson Field, knocking off the Cleveland Grays, 2-1, in 10 innings. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander John Humphreys. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. The Lancers improved their record to 38-43 by beating Cleveland.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, fan favorite Pete Yaughn had a chance to be the hero. Cleveland pitcher Martin Raulerson wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Yaughn drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Lancers had themselves a thrilling win.
Yaughn said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
