| Chicago's Bloom Gets 2000th Hit Saturday, September 29th , 1962 The box score from yesterday's game will show that Chicago beat the Minneapolis Millers, 12-2. It will also show that third baseman Ed Bloom went 1-for-4 for the Chiefs. It will not show, however, that Bloom reached the 2000-hit mark for his career.
The 34-year-old Bloom reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit."
In his career, Bloom has accumulated a .298 batting average with 2000 hits. His totals include 368 doubles, 101 triples, 138 home runs, 600 strikeouts, 1312 runs scored, 823 RBIs and a lifetime .431 OBP.
