| Howe Belts Number 300 Saturday, September 29th , 1962 It was a historic day for Cleveland's fine center fielder Earl Howe. He slammed home run number 300 in the Foresters 6-5 loss to the Chicago Cougars at Forester Stadium.
He told reporters after the game that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."
In his milestone-making game Howe went 3 for 3, scored 2 runs and collected 1 RBI. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.
Career-to-date Howe has rung up a .282 average, played in 1367 games and collected 220 doubles, 37 triples and 300 home runs.
