| Burke Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Saturday, September 15th , 1962 Bill Burke was at the head of a Los Angeles hit parade at Hennepin County Stadium. The third baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Suns to a nice 12-7 victory over the Minneapolis Millers.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Burke told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Millers skipper Frank Vance said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Bill Burke singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Bobby Crooks in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Bobby Crooks in the 9th.
For the season, Burke has hit .308 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs. He has played in 104 games and scored 41 times.
