| Hoops Silences Cleveland, 4-0 Saturday, May 24th , 1975 The Cleveland Foresters manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Kansas City Mavericks. The Foresters were overpowered by Kansas City starter Irv Hoops, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Ray Parsons said.
Over 9 innings, Hoops blanked Cleveland on 7 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Hoops said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Hoops shows a 3-4 record in 9 games, 65.1 innings, 36 strikeouts, and a 2.76 ERA.
