The Chicago Chiefs scored a convincing win at Whitney Park, defeating the Detroit Dynamos, 13-1. One of the hitting stars was Don Barker, who finished 5th in the FA in triples with 8 in 1969, who went 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3. The win puts Chicago at 4-5.

Roy Johnson had a big run-scoring double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the second inning. With Chicago leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a knuckleball from Bob Reed, who finished 5th in the CA in ERA with 2.47 in 1972, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 3-1.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Barker told the Chicago News.
