The Montreal Saints got a stellar performance from pitcher Jose Martinez, who handcuffed the Cleveland offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Forester Stadium. In 8 innings, Martinez surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Bill McCarty sewed up the save, his 1st.

Ken Steinbach helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Montreal a 1-0 lead.

"Jose was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Montreal manager Harry Barrell.

Their 80-79 record puts the Saints third in the Continental Association East.
