| Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Kites, 5-4 | Kinboshi Kites left fielder Taketoshi Shimabukuro was the difference-maker at Konohana Stadium, as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the BAN Championship Series. The Kites took the 5-4 win over the Yokohama Kingfishers to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Mitsuyasu Takeno had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Kites. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Kinboshi trailing 3-2, he hit a 3-run home run.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Kinboshi manager Kaita Kurosawa. "It's usually not just one thing."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, October 11th , 1962 at Kanagawa Stadium in Yokohama.
