| Road Win Lifts Yokohama to 2-1 Lead in NCS | Starter Shigeyasu Hirayama was sensational for the Yokohama Kingfishers in his team's 3-2 triumph over the Kinboshi Kites in Game 3 of the BAN Championship Series. Hirayama pitched well, but Yokohama picked up the win to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Yokohama needed the clutch hitting of Tokita Oishi to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 3-2. For the game, Oishi had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
In comments to the Yokohama Times, Oishi admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Konohana Stadium in Kyoto.
