| New York Upended by Atlanta, 7-4 | Harry Inge, who led the FA in ERA with 2.38 last year, was locked in. The right-hander led the Atlanta Copperheads to a 7-4 win against the New York Gothams at Peachtree Stadium. Inge got the win, improving to 13-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The Atlanta winning streak has reached 3 games.
The Copperheads got a big at-bat from shortstop John Newton. For the game, Newton went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 21st double of the season gave Atlanta a 6-3 lead.
"When you have a good rhythm and good flow, it's nice to just go out there and pound the strike zone with confidence," said Inge. | |
