Pioneers Lose 8-7 Decision to Detroit
The Detroit Dynamos topped the St. Louis Pioneers, 8-7, in Federal Association action at Pioneer Field III. The game was highlighted by the performance of Detroit pitcher Bob Reed. Detroit reliever Bob Reed got the win, raising his record to 5-9. Red Kline was tagged with the loss. Paul Sullivan earned the save for Detroit, his 2nd.

Detroit used the hitting of Johnny Recker to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Dynamos on top, 4-0. For the game, Recker had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Reed. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."

The last-place Dynamos go to 59-96.
