| 6-2 Triumph Takes St. Louis to 102-54 | The St. Louis Pioneers trumped the New York Gothams, 6-2, at Pioneer Field III. St. Louis right fielder Bill Tutwiler was terrific. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. St. Louis goes to 102-54. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.
Had Joe Kleman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kleman hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Pioneers.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Tutwiler.
