Starting pitcher Johnnie Higgins was a major factor in the 4-1 Kansas City Kings triumph over the Cincinnati Cannons. Del Lamb notched his 19th save in 30 chances.
The Kings had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the seventh. The score was 4-1, Kansas City, with one out. Cincinnati, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Charlie Ham dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 curveball, he hit into a double play.
The Kings, at 103-43, have a comfortable 16-game lead in their division.
