The Cincinnati Cannons withstood an impressive performance by Los Angeles right fielder Lou Allen to defeat the Stars, 5-4, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Allen was 3-7 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Cincinnati reliever Hal Adams got the win, raising his record to 7-3. George Dunnigan was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati has now won 3 straight, while the Stars have lost 3 in a row.

The Cannons got a clutch hit from catcher Art McKinney. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cannons.

"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Hal Upton.
