| Boston Beaten, 5-3, by New York | The New York Gothams locked up a win at Minuteman Stadium, knocking off the Boston Minutemen, 5-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Joe Nelson. He played a major role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Nelson surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. The second-place Gothams hiked their record to 66-75.
Had Sam Hamilton not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hamilton hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Gothams.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Hamilton. "More importantly, I had a good game." | |
