| Imperials Beat Foresters, 4-3 | The New York Imperials picked up a win at Dyckman Stadium, downing the Cleveland Foresters, 4-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Emmett Thornton, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Thornton, now 9-11. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The Imperials sit in second place in the Continental Association East with a record of 70-68.
Phil Terry, who finished 3rd in the CA in slugging percentage with .459 in 1968, contributed to the New York win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cleveland manager Ray Parsons. "But we decided not to take it."
