| Eagles Rally to Win | The Washington Eagles had to overcome a big game from Detroit second baseman Bill Austin to leave Thompson Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-5. Austin went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Don Maguire got the save, his 6th in 10 chances. The win makes Washington 65-70.
With two out in the top of the ninth, Joe Cantrell had a game-changing hit. The Eagles left fielder slammed a 2-run single off Bob Reed, making the score 8-5, Washington.
