| Wolves Lose to Sailors in Walk-Off | The San Francisco Sailors had to overcome a fine effort from Toronto pitcher Don Bradner to win, 3-2, at Golden Gate Stadium. Bradner went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. San Francisco reliever Bert Alexander was the winner. His record is now 14-14. Dick Miller took the loss. The 4th-place Sailors now have a record of 61-71.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for San Francisco. That's when John Kingsbury, who finished 3rd in the CA in batting average with .335 in 1961, hit a 2-run double off Dick Miller to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Toronto manager Carl Evans. | |
