| Gothams Top Chiefs in Extras, 4-3 | The Chicago Chiefs could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Frank Carmichael into a win. Instead, the New York Gothams prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Carmichael threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. New York reliever Danny Horne was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Jim Queen. The Gothams, at 74-56, sit in second place in the Federal Association East.
When he batted in the bottom of the tenth, Carl Bramlett had a golden opportunity to change the game's outcome. Chicago pitcher Jim Queen was determined not to let him. But with no outs, Bramlett drew a walk, driving in 1 run -- and the Gothams had a suspense-filled triumph.
Bramlett called the triumph "a good team win." | |
