| Sailors Lose as Falcons Stage Late Rally | The rain came, as predicted, but the Fukuoka Falcons and Osaka Sailors were able to complete their ballgame.
The Fukuoka Falcons picked up a win at Kotei Stadium, topping the Osaka Sailors, 4-2. On the mound for Fukuoka was right-hander Minoru Yamamoto. He played a principal role in the triumph. Reliever Shinpo Yamasaki picked up the win. His record improves to 6-7. Haruki Ogawa, who finished 3rd in the WL in saves with 16 in 1964, took the loss.
Toshifumi Shibuya, who is a seven-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Shibuya contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Fukuoka up, 4-2.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Fukuoka skipper Kamlyn Kadota. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
The Falcons saw their win-loss record go to 81-58. At the same time, the Sailors fell to 39-100.
