| Kawasaki Hits 3 home runs in Falcons Win | A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Yasuhiko Kawasaki, who finished 5th in the WL in extra base hits with 53 last year, led the Fukuoka Falcons to a win over the Osaka Sailors, 7-0. Tsuneteru Fujiwara, the winner, improved to 17-12. He held the Sailors to no runs on 6 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Osaka's current losing streak is now 6 games.
The Falcons got a big at-bat from left fielder Ayato Sugiura. For the game, Sugiura went 1-4 with a double and a walk. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 18th double of the season gave Fukuoka a 1-0 lead.
"This game will humble you real quick," said Osaka manager Bill Sherrill.
