| Ichikawa Homers Twice in 4-2 Win | With Michiki Ichikawa leading the charge, the Nagasaki Stars defeated the Osaka Sailors, 4-2. Ichikawa went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Stars. Earning his 9th save of the year was Nishiki Teshima. The Sailors, now 50-83, have lost 4 straight.
With Nagasaki trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Ichikawa hit a sinker from Marty Carroll for a 3-run home run. It was his 19th home run of the season and put the Stars ahead, 3-1.
Osaka manager Bill Sherrill said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
