| Vesutan Wins, 5-4, Over Falcons | The Vesutan Bees faced a tough opponent in Fukuoka pitcher Tsuneteru Fujiwara, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Fukuoka Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Fujiwara went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Vesutan reliever Toshimichi Yamamoto was the winner. His record is now 7-4. The losing pitcher was Shinpo Yamasaki. The win for the Bees lifted their record to 66-64.
Ikku Kawase went 1-3 with a double for Vesutan. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Kawase, who is a three-time All-Star, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Fukuoka hurler Shinpo Yamasaki, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Bees a 5-4 lead.
"Good to pick up this win," Kawase said.
