Sailors Claim Late Win | At Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium, the Nagasaki Stars and Osaka Sailors were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Osaka Sailors had to overcome a fine effort from Nagasaki pitcher Akimasa Murakami to win, 7-5, at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. Murakami went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Kinya Kodama collected save number 3.
Osaka used a clutch hit from Fumiya Nakasone to get the win. The second baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sailors ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Nakasone.
The 5th-place Sailors improved to 54-61. | |
