| Yamada Hits 2 home runs in Sailors Win | Not everyone stuck through the 49-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
With first baseman Naganori Yamada leading the charge, the Osaka Sailors defeated the Kinboshi Kites, 5-3, at Kotei Stadium. Yamada, the 3rd overall pick in the 1974 draft, was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Yukinobu Nobuhara earned the save, his 6th in 10 tries.
Osaka grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Yamada hit a 2-run home run off Narushi Nagaoka. His 13th home run of the season put the Sailors out in front, 5-3.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Yamada told a Osaka Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The Sailors go to 48-78 with the win.
