| Takahashi slugs 2 home runs to Ignite Falcons Offense | Though the conditions were not ideal, the Fukuoka Falcons and Nagasaki Stars came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Behind a fine performance from Hirobumi Takahashi, the Fukuoka Falcons knocked off the Nagasaki Stars, 8-1. Takahashi belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Falcons. Minoru Yamamoto, who finished 4th in the WL in ERA with 3.97 in 1955, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 1 run on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Fukuoka grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Takahashi hit a 3-run home run off Shinsaku Shiraishi. His 13th home run of the season put the Falcons out in front, 4-1.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Takahashi told the Fukuoka Daily News.
Their 76-50 record puts the Falcons second in the Western League. | |
