| Smith goes 3-for-5 in Fukuoka Win | The Fukuoka Falcons stopped the Kinboshi Kites, 6-5, at Fukuoka Stadium. The Falcons got a big game from Yukio Smith, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Tadaatsu Miki, the winner, improved to 14-6. He held the Kites to 5 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Their 58-55 record puts the Falcons third in the Western League.
Smith had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 slider from Mirai Watanabe, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Falcons a 6-5 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Smith.
"Good win for us," said Smith. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
