Stars Come Back Late to Top Falcons, 7-2 | Though the conditions were not ideal, the Nagasaki Stars and Fukuoka Falcons came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Nagasaki Stars starter Naoto Yoshinaga pitched a strong game against the Fukuoka Falcons at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium, leading the Stars to victory, 7-2. The win belonged to Kiyohiro Okazaki in relief. His record improves to 5-8. Yuushuu Nakata took the loss for Fukuoka.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Binya Nishi came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fukuoka pitcher Kijuro Fukushima, he hit a 2-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nagasaki on top, 3-2.
Nishi attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Nagasaki leads the Western League by 3½ games. | |
