| Stars Keep Losing, Drop 7-6 Contest to Kinboshi | In a tight contest at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium, the Kinboshi Kites edged the Nagasaki Stars by the score of 7-6. Kinboshi second baseman Hideyuki Kitamura, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Keiji Tamura, who finished 3rd in the WL in wins with 15 in 1961, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Toyoji Tsuda, who is tied for 10th in the WL in holds with 1, nailed down the save.
In the top of the sixth, Keiji Tamura delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Kinboshi pitcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Kites in front, 7-6.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Okura Ichimura, the Nagasaki manager.
The 4th-place Stars have dropped 7 straight games.
