| Shimabukuro Leads Kites to 9-6 Win Over Sailors | The Kinboshi Kites defeated the Osaka Sailors, 9-6, in Western League action at Konohana Stadium. Taketoshi Shimabukuro pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Ryusuke Maeda earned the win for Kinboshi. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 7-6. The victory gives the Kites a record of 47-46.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kinboshi catcher Hiroji Orido had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and no one out, Orido stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 6-4, Kinboshi. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Shimabukuro told the Kinboshi Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
