| Kinboshi Wins, 6-2, Behind 2 Kawasaki Home Runs | Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Kites beat the Sailors.
The 3-hit performance of Munemitsu Kawasaki, who is tied for 10th in the WL in hits with 105, helped the Kinboshi Kites beat the Osaka Sailors, 6-2. Kinboshi has now won 3 in a row.
Fusao Tokunaga, who led the WL in on-base percentage with .433 last year, took Osaka hurler Tetsushou Kobayashi deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Kites on top, 3-1. In all, Tokunaga had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Osaka manager Bill Sherrill. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
