The Kobe Bulls got a stellar effort from pitcher Toshitada Morino, helping Kobe score a win over the visiting Vesutan Bees, 2-0. The winner was Morino. He threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Tadaatsu Sunada. Picking up the save was top prospect Toshimichi Yamamoto.

Shinpei Abe had a big solo home run for the Bulls in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kobe leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from Tadaatsu Sunada, who finished 5th in the EL in strikeouts with 148 in 1957, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Bulls on top, 2-0.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Abe.

With the win, Kobe has a record of 53-47. Vesutan falls to 49-50.
