| Yamamoto Holds Osaka Scoreless | The Osaka Sailors struggled at the plate against Falcons hurler Minoru Yamamoto, who shackled them on 2 hits while hurling a complete-game 3-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Sailors skipper Motoshige Aoki in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Yamamoto finished the game with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," Fukuoka manager Horace Jackson said. "Minoru made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
Thus far this season, Yamamoto has posted a 9-9 record, started 24 games, struck out 80 batters in 153.1 innings and compiled a 4.05 ERA. | |
