| Akamine Lifts Falcons to 7-4 Triumph | No one was more impactful than Tsuruo Akamine in the 7-4 Fukuoka win over Osaka. Akamine, who finished 4th in the WL in OPS with .962 in 1971, was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The second-place Falcons go to 66-43.
Yasuhiko Kawasaki was a prime factor in the win for the Falcons. In the top of the third with one out, the 23-year old first baseman hit a 2-run single. He went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2.
"The tide will turn," said losing manager Bill Sherrill. "We just need to keep our chins up."
