| Osaka Beats Nagasaki, 6-5 | The Osaka Sailors beat the Nagasaki Stars, 6-5, at Kotei Stadium. Satoshi Hino, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Tetsushou Kobayashi, who threw 114 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits. The last-place Sailors bumped their record to 29-70.
In the bottom of the second inning, third baseman Ryuji Tamura had a 2-run home run for Osaka. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Sailors on top, 2-0.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Nagasaki manager Okura Ichimura.
