Anderson Excels, But Falcons Win | The game between Fukuoka and Osaka is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Fukuoka Falcons overcame a pretty good performance by Osaka left fielder Fred Anderson, beating the Sailors, 8-5, at Fukuoka Stadium. Anderson went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win boosted Fukuoka to 44-38.
Yuigo Fukunaga had a big 3-run home run for the Falcons in the bottom of the first inning. With Fukuoka trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from Natsuhiko Sugiura, who finished 5th in the WL in saves with 9 in 1959, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Falcons on top, 3-1.
"Winning is contagious," said Fukunaga. "We're looking forward to the next game." | |
