| Falcons Snag 4-2 Win | The Fukuoka Falcons picked up a win at Fukuoka Stadium, knocking off the Osaka Sailors, 4-2. On the mound for Fukuoka was right-hander Shuuji Ishii. He played a key role in the triumph. Ishii, now 4-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Their 55-38 record puts the Falcons second in the Western League.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Itaru Nakamura came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Osaka pitcher Marty Carroll, he hit a 1-0 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Fukuoka on top, 4-2.
After the game, Fukuoka manager Kamlyn Kadota applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
