Matsunoki Stadium was the site for Western League action featuring the Nagasaki Stars and Kobe Bulls.

Kobe Bulls starter Yoshimatsu Yamamura turned in an exceptional performance against the Nagasaki Stars at Matsunoki Stadium, resulting in a Kobe win, 9-2. Kobe now sports a record of 60-30.

The Stars had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Bulls going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time Most Valuable Player Award winner Jouta Hayashida came to the plate. Hayashida hit a run-scoring double on a full count knuckle curve from Nagasaki hurler Togai Ota. It was Hayashida's 22nd double of the year.

"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Yamamura.
