Millers Pull Off Thrilling 5-4 Win in Extras
Pittsburgh left fielder Mike Whisman had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Whisman was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2, even as Minneapolis beat the Miners, 5-4. The win was credited to 30-year old right-handed pitcher Bobby Crooks in relief. His record improves to 6-5. Hank Griswold took the loss. With the victory, the Millers record stands at 28-49.

The Millers got a clutch hit from center fielder Walt Denny. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Millers.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Pittsburgh manager Harry Barrell.
