| Chicago Upended by Houston, 5-2 | Behind an impressive start by Spencer Reese, Houston beat Chicago, 5-2. Joe Barnes earned save number 1. The Chiefs fall to 11-22 and continue their lethargic start to the 1974 season.
There was more than one reason the Comets beat the Chiefs, but Reese's big at-bat in the top of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Spencer kept his poise and got the job done," said Houston manager Glenn Carney. "He was outstanding."
