Red-Hot Pioneers Win Again | The St. Louis Pioneers wanted a good start from Steve Madden -- and he delivered one. The result was a 5-1 St. Louis win over the Philadelphia Keystones at Pioneer Field III. St. Louis, at 26-6, is off to a blistering start.
Paul Watson had a big 3-run home run for the Pioneers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from William Davis, who finished 4th in the FA in innings pitched with 233.1 in 1961, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Pioneers on top, 5-1.
"It's fun coming to the ballpark," said Watson, "when you're on this kind of roll." | |
