Vesutan third baseman Taiji Miyakawa made his presence felt in the 8-3 Bees triumph over the Osaka Sailors. Miyakawa was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Shuhei Ichikawa, the winner, is now 6-4. He struck out 5 and walked 2 over 6.2 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 6 hits.
With Vesutan leading 5-3 in the top of the sixth, Miyakawa hit a 2-run single off Osaka hurler Wei-Tzu Otsuki. It was the 79th hit of the season for Miyakawa and put his team ahead, 7-3.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Miyakawa.
The Bees now have a record of 42-48.
