The Vesutan Bees got a superb performance from pitcher Tsuneo Oda, but the Osaka Sailors still won the game, 2-1. Oda threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Haruki Ogawa closed it out for Osaka, earning his 8th save. The last-place Sailors go to 27-63.

Tied up with the Bees in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Sailors got a boost from shortstop Yukitoshi Okamura. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Okamura saw a first pitch knuckle curve from Tsuneo Oda and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Osaka on top, 1-0.

Okamura said his team "played with determination."
