| Sailors Handed 6-2 Loss by Kobe | Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Kobe Bulls and Osaka Sailors.
The Kobe Bulls rode a solid performance from 35-year-old starting pitcher Tatsuharu Oto to a win, beating the Osaka Sailors, 6-2, at Kotei Stadium. Oto, who finished 3rd in the WL in strikeouts with 139 in 1969, went the distance for Kobe. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits.
Kobe used the hitting of Kouyuu Kira to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bulls on top, 5-0. For the game, Kira had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Tatsuharu is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Kobe manager Shojiro Tasaka.
The win makes Kobe 57-30. | |
