| Falcons Pocket 3-2 Win Against Kobe | Fukuoka Falcons starter Rei Matsumura turned in a sterling performance against the Kobe Bulls, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. Matsumura, now 7-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Shinpo Yamasaki closed it out for Fukuoka, earning his 11th save.
Hirobumi Takahashi, who finished 4th in the WL in batting average with .260 in 1970, had a direct impact on the outcome. Takahashi contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Fukuoka up, 3-0.
Afterward, Falcons manager Kamlyn Kadota said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
