| Stars Bridle Sailors, 3-2 | The game between Nagasaki and Osaka is in the books, despite a little rain.
Nagasaki turned a good effort from starter Takashi Masuda into a win over the Osaka Sailors at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Nagasaki goes to 45-31. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
Had Teruhi Hirai not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hirai hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Stars.
"Takashi just settled in and did what he does," said Nagasaki manager Eddie Roseman.
