| Razor-Sharp Nagao Blanks Nagasaki | Niou Nagao pitched a strong game at Vesutan Stadium, blanking the Nagasaki Stars, 4-0. Nagao, who finished 4th in the EL in strikeouts with 135 in 1968, allowed no runs on 1 hit, totaled 7 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk.
Vesutan manager Jack Fletchings said he could tell immediately it was going to be a good game for Nagao.
"Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," Fletchings said. "He threw a lot of strikes."
