Kobe Shuts Out Sailors, Yamamura Winner
The Osaka Sailors were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the Kobe Bulls and hurler Yoshimatsu Yamamura. Yamamura kept the Sailors confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Yamamura," Osaka manager Bill Sherrill said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 31-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Yamamura said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To date, Yamamura has a 6-4 mark in 12 starts with a 2.68 ERA. He has given up 64 hits in 87.1 innings, struck out 46 and issued 24 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .205 batting average against him.
